Why “Algorithms for the Kitchen”?
In Art of Computer Programming, Volume 1: Fundamental Algorithms, 3rd Edition, Donald E. Knuth writes
Nevertheless, a computer programmer can learn much by studying a good recipe book. (The author has in fact barely resisted the temptation to name the present volume “The Programmer’s Cookbook.” Perhaps someday he will attempt a book called “Algorithms for the Kitchen.”
